Cashman Equipment Corp. is a global provider of vessels and marine services, maintaining offices and fleets around the world including the United States, Mexico, South America, Singapore/Australia, the Persian Gulf, West Africa and the Caspian Sea. Founded in 1995 as a barge rental and marine contracting company with a fleet of 10 barges, 9 of which were built in the 1950s and 1960s. From this humble beginning, Cashman Equipment Corp. now boasts the youngest and one of the largest fleets in the industry with over 120 vessels, including inland and ocean barges ranging in size from 120’ to 400’, accommodation barges, as well as specialized oil spill recovery barges and cranes.

In addition to barge rentals, Cashman Equipment Corp. is a fully integrated and diverse marine services company, providing marine construction and general contracting, marine transportation, project cargo services, oil spill response services, marine accommodation services, and salvage and wreck removal support services.


Since 2010, KS&P Law has represented Cashman in complex construction litigation related to work it performed on the Sakonnet River Bridge project.  During this time, KS&P Law has been instrumental in navigating the complex construction litigation landscape, from Cashman’s initial complaint that launched this case, through the complex litigation proceedings, mediations and eventual trial.  Even before trial, this decade long case has already reached he Rhode Island Supreme Court twice.  

During nearly four months of trial, KS&P Law and Cashman faced a variety of unique construction issues including, delay responsibility, defective engineering and design plans, allegations of defective construction, plan modifications, and the applicability and interpretation of engineering standards and codes, to name a few.  While phase one of this bifurcated trial has ended, KS&P Law continues to zealously represent Cashman’s interests in preparation for phase two.
